Program details

Overview

Simmons offers a master's degree in nutrition and health promotion that deepens knowledge of nutrition, fitness, and wellness. Students choose between a fully online format and in-person classes on the Boston campus, in the Longwood Medical Area district. Faculty combine evidence from research with practical application, and the cohort includes students from varied backgrounds. The degree rests on the idea of health promotion as helping people gain greater control over their own health, which reaches beyond individual behavior to community and policy factors. Students who add a Didactic Program in Dietetics and a Dietetic Internship, completed here or at a partner institution, can meet the requirements to become a registered dietitian nutritionist. Growing public interest in healthy eating and prevention supports demand for professionals in this field.
