BA/BS in Biology, General

The Department of Biological Sciences provides a broad curriculum and thorough scientific training for future health care professionals, teachers and scientists. Biology majors build written and oral communication, critical thinking and analytical skills, along with respect for ethical concerns. Four bachelor's degree options are available, and students may add teacher certification or a minor. Alumni gain entry to graduate schools, health careers, biomedical research and classrooms, and a pre-health adviser guides interested freshmen. The program sits within a Catholic, Marianist institution in San Antonio, so coursework is framed by ethical reflection as well as technical or academic skill. Students work closely with faculty, join a community that values service, and finish with preparation for graduate study or entry into their chosen field. Prospective students can request information or apply through the university website.
