The Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering at Tennessee State University prepares graduates to take on the engineering side of how buildings perform. Students study the systems that keep a structure safe, comfortable, and usable, and they learn how those systems fit together with architectural goals.
Coursework covers structural design, heating and cooling, electrical power and lighting, plumbing, and fire protection, along with construction management. Graduates are expected to pursue sustainable building practices and to keep existing buildings maintained and renovated well over their working lives.
Students may focus on structures, on mechanical, electrical, and lighting systems, or on construction and facilities management. The program also builds problem-solving, teamwork, ethical judgment, and clear communication, which graduates carry into professional practice or further study.
