This graduate certificate is administered by the College of Agriculture, specifically its agricultural and environmental sciences department. New bachelor's graduates and continuing TSU graduate students receive practical instruction in newer biotechnology methods, which can strengthen their job prospects in an expanding sector. Established professionals may also enroll to pick up technical skills through hands-on learning. Credits can lead onward to the agricultural sciences master's degree that offers a Biotechnology concentration. The curriculum totals six courses. Four are required and address biosecurity, immunochemistry, instrumentation, and cell and tissue culture. The remaining two are electives, with choices including omics, genome editing, and industrial or environmental applications. Applicants hold a four-year degree from a recognized university and satisfy the Graduate School rules for non-degree admission. The graduate coordinator handles questions, and a downloadable plan of study is available.
