This certificate in studio art is a one-year program for people who already hold a bachelor's degree and want sustained, serious studio practice. It suits recent graduates as well as those changing careers.
Students carry 14 studio credits each semester drawn from the school's wide studio offerings. They also take a visual and material studies seminar and two program seminars featuring presentations, critiques, discussion, writing and trips to museums and collections.
Professional development covers grant and residency writing, curatorial contacts and networking, supported by weekly faculty studio visits. The year prepares students for graduate art study or independent practice.
Each student receives individual advising from faculty, and the experience serves as a stepping stone toward further graduate work in art.
