BA/BS in Animal Sciences

The Animal Sciences major gives students a working knowledge of livestock species and the science behind raising and caring for them. It leads to a Bachelor of Science from the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences. Each student picks one of four specializations: Animal Biology, Equine, Food Animal, or Integrative Animal Sciences. These tracks are shaped for those headed to professional school, those planning graduate study, and those entering agricultural industries. The Food Animal track centers on livestock production, management and the processing of animal-derived foods, while the Integrative track lets a student build a customized plan with an advisor around a chosen concentration. The Integrative option is not designed for students aiming at professional programs such as veterinary school. An animal genetics certificate and other related minors are available alongside the major.
