AA/AS in Chemistry

This pathway provides lower-division work for transfer to a University of California campus as a chemistry major. Students complete a large major core including general chemistry, organic chemistry, calculus and physics, plus Cal-GETC general education courses; the remaining Cal-GETC courses may be finished at the university. A GPA of at least 3.5 is the stated threshold for guaranteed admission to the UC system. Completing the degree does not replace a review of what the destination campus expects, so students are encouraged to check the requirements of their intended university. The catalog lists the required and elective courses, related certificates and learning outcomes that describe the abilities graduates should demonstrate. Students typically combine major courses with general education and transferable electives so that the overall total reaches the unit requirement before they apply to transfer.
