The École Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Montpellier, known as ENSCM, is a public engineering school in Montpellier founded in 1889.
It trains generalist chemical engineers across every field of chemistry, from industrial production and research to management, health, environment and sustainable development. The three-year Diplôme d'ingénieur runs from bac+2 to bac+5 and can be followed as a standard student, as an apprentice, through continuing education or validation of experience, or alongside a master's degree.
Students choose among eight optional tracks, including fine organic chemistry, materials chemistry, chemistry for nuclear and environment, pollution control, chemistry-biology-health and a research-oriented engineer track. The school also prepares doctoral candidates for careers in industrial innovation or academic research.
Teaching rests on three pillars: close links with companies, international openness and research, with teachers working in leading laboratories.
ENSCM reports partnerships with more than 130 institutions in about 27 countries, and students spend around six months abroad on average. Each student receives a tablet for the whole programme, and the school holds an ISO 9001 quality certification and a renewed accreditation from the engineering commission CTI.
It is a component institution of the Université de Montpellier. Admission is only possible from bac+2, via competitive exams, continuous assessment or file review.
