Acquired present status and name, Montpellier SupAgro, in 2007 following merger of Montpellier National School of Agronomy, The National Centre for Tropical and Sub-tropical Environments, The National School of Agro-Food Industry. Montpellier SupAgro was a member of former COMUE Languedoc-Roussillon Universités.
In 2022 Montpellier SupAgro became the Institut Agro Montpellier and is part of the 3 schools of the Institut Agro. It is a public scientific, cultural and professional establishment (EPSCP)
