Associate Degree in Health Information Management (Full-Time)

An Associate of Applied Science in Health Information Management (HIM) is offered at Barbados Community College, blending medical records practice, information technology, healthcare delivery, human-resources knowledge and law into one health-information discipline. Coursework covers the principles and practice of acquiring, analysing and protecting both electronic and paper-based health information that keeps patient safety, confidentiality and care quality intact. As part of the Division of Health Sciences, the programme is built to produce graduates ready for health-information roles across government and private healthcare organisations alike. Alongside technical competence, the training instils a commitment to ongoing learning and sound ethical judgement, gives students hands-on experience with the information-technology tools used in health records work, and develops the communication skills needed to work effectively within a care team.
