Overview
This eight-month Accounting advanced diploma program provides graduates who already hold a two-year diploma or university degree with deeper knowledge of accounting principles required in business and public accounting firms. The curriculum builds toward completion of prerequisites for the Chartered Professional Accountants Professional Education Program (CPA PEP), covering intermediate and advanced financial accounting, management accounting, auditing and assurance, corporate and personal taxation, corporate finance, business law, statistics and accounting software such as Sage 50. Graduates may qualify for advanced standing toward CPA preparatory courses and toward the Certified Aboriginal Financial Managers designation through the Aboriginal Financial Officers Association. Applicants without prior accounting knowledge may need to complete introductory financial accounting courses before starting. The program suits students who already hold a diploma or degree and want to move into accounting roles such as accounting technician, bookkeeper, accounts payable or receivable clerk, payroll clerk or tax return specialist, or to progress toward a CPA designation.
