Carpentry Framing and Forming Foundation Certificate is a foundation in Trades programme offered by British Columbia Institute of Technology in Burnaby, Canada. The programme runs for 23 weeks, delivered on campus. Teaching is in English. Tuition is CAD 3,400 per total for local students.
This 23-week, full-time foundation certificate combines classroom theory with extensive hands-on practice in wood-frame construction and concrete forming, preparing students for entry-level carpentry employment. It runs at the Burnaby campus on weekday mornings, with multiple intakes offered on a rolling basis through the year. The curriculum meets all Level 1 outcomes of the harmonized provincial Carpenter Program Outline, and graduates receive Level 1 technical training credit with SkilledTradesBC along with 450 work-based hours credit toward a carpentry apprenticeship, giving them advanced standing once registered. The program is aimed at people with little or no prior exposure to construction who want a structured introduction to residential, commercial, or industrial carpentry before seeking industry sponsorship, and it is also intended to help participants secure that apprenticeship sponsorship once they complete the foundation training.
