Overview
The Automotive Service Technician and Operations Diploma, Co-op option, prepares you to become skilled technicians who can diagnose and repair the sophisticated systems in today's vehicles. You'll take courses in welding, brake systems, suspension and steering systems, and more, as well as complete a co-op term. After graduation, you'll be able to pursue your Automotive Service Technician Red Seal certification with the option for post-diploma baccalaureate pathways in business administration and technology management, or run your own business or assume customer service and management positions in the automotive industry.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: The Automotive Service Technician and Operations Diploma requires Category 3 English (English Studies 12 at 50% or equivalent, or the BCIT English Trades Entry Assessment), one math course from Pre-Calculus 11, Foundations of Math 11, or Workplace Math 11, each at 50%, another acceptable BC/Yukon course, or the BCIT Math Trades Entry Assessment, and a pass on the BCIT Mechanical Reasoning Trades Entry Assessment. A completed Program Acknowledgement form must be submitted with the application. High school graduation, a driver's licence and prior industry knowledge are recommended but not required. International applicants are eligible, though the diploma does not meet Post-Graduation Work Permit requirements. Intakes run in January and July each year, with applications accepted year-round on a first-qualified basis.

Openings are 9:00 am and deadlines 11:59 pm Pacific Time, moving to the next business day on a weekend. Admission is not institute-wide rolling, but many programs work first-qualified-first-accepted and can fill before the posted deadline, and several programs, mostly in Health Sciences, trades and graduate studies, run entirely separate application tables of their own. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
