This certificate program is the intermediate tier of BCIT's Provincial Registered Welder training pathway, following completion of the Welder Foundation program or equivalent Level C training. Classroom instruction runs 16 to 20 weeks, followed by a job experience component, delivered full-time and in-person at BCIT's Burnaby campus on a continuous-intake basis with multiple start dates annually. Classes are offered across morning, mid, and late shifts, Monday through Friday. The program develops more advanced welding skills and theory than the Foundation level, including pipe welding and gas tungsten arc welding, broadening students' skill base and employment opportunities. Admission requires English language proficiency at Category 3, and applicants must be welders currently or recently employed in the field. On completion, the B Level stamp is registered through SkilledTradesBC and entered into the welder's log book, qualifying graduates for B Level Certification under the Provincial Registered Welder program. Graduates find work in settings such as metal fabricating shops, general repair shops, new construction sites, mining, logging, shipbuilding, pulp mills, sawmills, and oilfield camps. The program suits working welders progressing beyond foundational training toward higher-level certification.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants must meet Category 3 English proficiency, English Studies 12 at 50% or equivalent. On top of this, admission requires completion of the BCIT Welder Foundation program, or other training equivalent to the Level C institutional/college training component of the Provincial Registered Welder program; applicants unsure whether they qualify are advised to complete the relevant BCIT Trades Entry Assessments before applying. Applicants who do not yet meet the trade prerequisite are directed toward BCIT's Trades Discovery General or Trades Discovery for Women preparatory programs. No portfolio, interview, or minimum-GPA condition is stated. Applications are accepted year-round on a first-qualified basis, with qualified applicants wait-listed once full.

These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
