Overview

The Education (MEd) is offered by Brock University's Faculty of Education and leads to a Master of Education degree. The program develops students' understanding of the theoretical perspectives that have shaped education and builds a foundation in educational research; it does not lead to Ontario Certified Teacher status. Students may choose up to two of five optional concentrations: Administration, Leadership and Policy; Adult and Postsecondary Education; Curriculum and Pedagogy; Educational Psychology: Teaching, Learning and Wellness; or Social Justice, Power and Politics in Education. The program is offered full-time or part-time, with intakes in September, January, and May. Full-time students may complete a Course-Based Pathway in one year (three terms), a Major Research Paper pathway in sixteen months (four terms), or a Thesis pathway in two years (six terms); part-time students typically take three to four years. Applicants submit an online application, transcripts, two references, a resume, and a letter of intent of 500 to 800 words; research-pathway applicants also describe their area of interest. Graduates pursue further doctoral study or leadership and specialist roles in education.
