Program details
Overview
The Biology, Associate of Science Degree is a two-year, full-time program at Camosun College's Lansdowne campus leading to an Associate Degree in the natural sciences. The curriculum covers biology from the molecular to the global level, combining coursework in biology, chemistry, English, mathematics and physics in the first year with organic chemistry, biochemistry, ecology, cell biology and genetics in the second year, alongside electives. Instruction is delivered in faculty-taught classes, labs and seminars, and students may complete an optional co-op or internship work term after finishing at least eight courses. The program is designed to meet provincial Associate Degree requirements with courses fully transferable to British Columbia universities, and Camosun has a block-transfer agreement with Royal Roads University into the third year of its BSc Environmental Sciences program or other School of Environmental Sustainability programs. Graduates pursue further study or entry-level roles in education, medicine and health, biotechnology, forestry, fisheries and agriculture.
