Overview

The Biology Associate of Science Degree at Langara College is a university-transfer credential covering the study of living organisms, from molecular and cellular biology to whole ecosystems. All university-transfer Biology courses in the program include two to three hours of laboratory or fieldwork per week, giving students hands-on experience alongside lecture-based instruction. The program includes a Work Experience component and takes a minimum of two years to complete on a full-time or part-time basis, with intakes in September, January, and May. Coursework is designed to transfer into second- and third-year Biology and related life-science programs at universities such as SFU, UBC, and UVic. Smaller class sizes and direct access to faculty support students working through foundational biology, genetics, ecology, and physiology courses before moving on to a four-year degree or further study in a health- or life-science field.
