The Academic Upgrading Certificate offers programs from basic literacy through high school upgrading. The Foundations Academic Upgrading program is designed for students who want to upgrade their basic reading, writing, and math skills, while the certificate in Intermediate Academic Upgrading is designed for students requiring upgrading in math and English, as well as students who wish to undertake career exploration combined with academic preparation. Admission Requirements: Camosun admits into its Fundamental and Intermediate Upgrading levels of this Academic Upgrading Certificate by assessment rather than by fixed course grades: applicants are placed according to their previous educational background and experience, and are directed to the college's Assessment Centre for an English or mathematics placement assessment. When applying, a student must submit proof that they meet the level's admission basis, and where a letter grade is specified elsewhere in the calendar it must be documented at that grade or higher. The programme's own page states no separate English-language test score (IELTS, TOEFL, or similar) and describes no portfolio, interview, or other supporting document; applicants missing the assessed level are directed toward the college's general assessment or further upgrading options.

Limited-enrolment programmes publish only an opening date and can close once the waitlist exceeds the seats on offer.
