Overview
The Associate of Science Degree in Biology at Capilano University is a two-year credential covering the study of life from the molecular level to whole ecosystems. The multidisciplinary, lab-focused curriculum combines biology coursework with chemistry, physics, calculus and mathematics, building a broad science foundation alongside applied laboratory skills. Students learn the scientific method, including designing and conducting experiments, generating hypotheses, interpreting data and drawing conclusions, and gain hands-on experience with laboratory equipment through planned experiments and dissections. The programme prepares graduates for further study or entry-level roles in fields such as biotechnology, ecology, conservation and resource management, and health sciences. Credits earned in the associate degree can be applied toward Capilano University's four-year Bachelor of Science degree, allowing students to continue their studies at the same institution. The programme is delivered at the North Vancouver campus and admits students in the Fall, Spring and Summer terms.
