Overview

The Small Engine Maintenance (Diesel) Micro-Credential is for hobbyists, homeowners, or boat owners who want to learn how to complete basic troubleshooting and maintenance on 2-stroke and 4-stroke gas engines and diesel engines. It uses classroom, demos, and hands-on sessions to present the basic theory and maintenance for both diesel and gas engines. You'll learn how to properly store equipment and troubleshoot problems when they can be completed alone or when a mechanic is required.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Camosun's course notes for this Small Engine Maintenance (Diesel) Micro-credential state: "Safety glasses and steel-toed boots required for shop", and recommend purchasing the textbook "Marine Diesel Engines" (approx. $45, Interurban Bookstore) before the first class. No academic prerequisite, minimum grade average, or English-language test score is published.

International applicants must submit a complete application by 1 June (Fall), 1 October (Winter) or 1 February (Summer), though later applications are still reviewed while seats remain, making admission effectively rolling for both groups once the early deadlines pass.
