Program details
Overview
This bridge pathway takes graduates of a technology diploma into third-year standing toward an engineering degree at the University of Victoria, with a parallel route available toward the University of British Columbia. Although built around Camosun's own technology diplomas, the bridge is open to graduates of any program accredited by the Canadian Technology Accreditation Board.
Requirements
Minimum GPA:5.00 / 9.0
Admission Requirements: Camosun states that admission to this bridge programme is demanding and competitive: the number of applicants meeting the minimum GPA standard can exceed the seats available, so a higher GPA than the minimum may be needed to be offered a place. Applicants need a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology accredited by Technology Accreditation Canada, held either within the last five years or earlier, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 5.0 (a B) and no individual course grade below C; a diploma completed more than five years ago must be accompanied by a Letter of Intent covering relevant work experience or professional development since graduation. A diploma from another closely related discipline is accepted only with the Engineering Bridge Coordinator's approval, again at a minimum 5.0 GPA with no grade below C. All official high school and post-secondary transcripts must be submitted regardless of relevance to engineering. GPA is calculated across the whole diploma, including repeated courses, and a joint Camosun/University of Victoria panel ranks applicants on that GPA, with the University of Victoria making the final admission decision. The page states no separate English-language test requirement for this route.
Application Details
Start Date:One start a year, in January (Winter term).
Application Deadline:Competitive-entry bridge to UVic with its own fixed dates, not the college-wide schedule. Camosun's competitive-entry table gives the recurring window as 15 January to 1 June with all documents in by 15 June. The most recently published cycle, for the Winter 2027 intake, ran 15 January to 1 June 2026 with documents due 15 June 2026, so applications for a January start close in the June roughly seven months beforehand — check the programme page for the exact dates of your intake. Applicants are ranked on the GPA of their technology diploma at a joint meeting between Camosun and the receiving university, and the university makes the final call. Camosun's international deadline page states that the eight-month engineering bridge programmes each set their own dates rather than following the general international deadlines, so international applicants should work from the programme page and confirm with International Admissions. Domestic and international applicants both apply online through EducationPlannerBC (apply.educationplannerbc.ca/camosun).
