Overview
The Mechanical Engineering Advanced Diploma are for technology diploma grads who want to continue with third-year studies at the University of Victoria (UVic) or the University of British Columbia (UBC) to finish an engineering degree. The Engineering Bridge programs at Camosun are unique and recognized across Canada as an excellent transition from a technology diploma to an Applied Science degree at UBC. Although the Bridge programs are designed for graduates of technology diplomas delivered through Camosun, all graduates from accredited Canadian Technology Accreditation Board (CTAB) programs are welcome to apply.

Admission Requirements: Camosun states that admission to this bridge programme is demanding and competitive: the number of applicants meeting the minimum GPA standard can exceed the seats available, so a higher GPA than the minimum may be needed to be offered a place. Applicants need a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology accredited by Technology Accreditation Canada, held either within the last five years or earlier, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 5.0 (a B) and no individual course grade below C; a diploma completed more than five years ago must be accompanied by a Letter of Intent covering relevant work experience or professional development since graduation. A diploma from another closely related discipline is accepted only with the Engineering Bridge Coordinator's approval, again at a minimum 5.0 GPA with no grade below C. All official high school and post-secondary transcripts must be submitted regardless of relevance to engineering. GPA is calculated across the whole diploma, including repeated courses, and a joint Camosun/University of British Columbia panel ranks applicants on that GPA, with UBC making the final admission decision. For the Fall 2027 intake the application period runs 1 October 2026 to 1 March 2027 with the document deadline on 15 March 2027; Camosun's competitive-entry table gives the same recurring window of 1 October to 1 March with documents by 15 March. Applicants are ranked on the GPA of their technology diploma at a joint meeting between Camosun and the receiving university, and the university makes the final call. Camosun's international deadline page states that the eight-month engineering bridge programmes each set their own dates rather than following the general international deadlines, so international applicants should work from the programme page and confirm with International Admissions.
