Overview

The Department of English and Creative Writing at the University of Regina offers undergraduate and graduate credentials studied through Campion College. Coursework covers the study of novels, short stories, poetry, and drama alongside literary criticism, biography, and film adaptation, together with instruction in creative composition. Undergraduate options include a Bachelor of Arts in English, a Bachelor of Arts Honours in English, a Minor in English, and an optional Creative Writing concentration open to majors and honours students. At the graduate level, the Master of Arts in English is offered through several routes, including course-based study, a thesis in literature or in creative writing, and a project-based option culminating in a scholarly article or a genre-specific creative work such as a chapbook or short-story collection. Creative writing routes require additional coursework in creative-writing theory. The program suits students who want to immerse themselves specifically in literary study or creative writing, as well as those who prefer broader exposure across English and writing before choosing a concentration or specialization at the graduate level.
