BA/BS in Police Studies

The Police Studies program at the University of Regina leads to a Bachelor of Arts, completed over four years and requiring 120 credit hours, and is offered through the Faculty of Arts jointly with the university's federated colleges, including Campion College. Coursework draws on criminology, sociology, psychology, law, and history to examine policing, the justice system, and community safety, building analytical and communication skills for law-enforcement and justice-sector work. In the fourth year, students choose among a professional track for those already hired by a police service, a practicum track offering experiential placements, or an academic track with advanced coursework. Admission pathways differ depending on whether a student enters directly from high school, transfers from another institution, or applies as a mature or international student. Graduates pursue roles as police officers with municipal, provincial, or federal services, correctional services officers, probation and parole officers, and community justice practitioners; the program notes that entry does not guarantee acceptance into a professional policing service.
