Trades - Apprenticeship in Child Development Practitioner Apprenticeship

Child Development Practitioner Apprenticeship is a Canadore College programme for registered apprentices, completed in as little as three years through a distance-education, part-time delivery format. The majority of training takes place on the job as a paid apprentice, with the formal education portion completed through distance education. Coursework covers child development theory, infant, toddler, preschool and school-age curricula, interpersonal communications, health, safety and nutrition, and administration, across a curriculum of more than 27 courses spanning inclusive practices, early-learning environments, placements and professional practice. Graduates may work in child care centres or nursery schools, kindergarten programs, resource and learning access programs, and specialty early learning schools. Admission is restricted to individuals who are signed apprentices registered with Skilled Trades Ontario.
