Child Development Practitioner Apprenticeship is delivered by Loyalist College entirely online through distance studies, with no requirement to attend classes or visit a campus. Apprentices earn the Child Development Practitioner (CDP) certificate while gaining hands-on experience working in settings such as full-day early learning kindergarten programs, child care centres, nursery schools, private home child care, live-in or live-out nanny positions, resource centres, and cruise ships or resorts. The program offers a pathway into further study, allowing graduates to continue toward becoming a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) through Loyalist's Early Childhood Education (ECE) diploma program. Students have up to seven years to complete the program requirements. As a registered apprenticeship, it is administered jointly with the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development, which covers most in-class training costs.
