Overview

The Certificate in Contract Law at Capilano University is a specialized, 24-credit credential offered exclusively to BC Hydro employees. It builds directly on the university's Citation in Contract Law, adding five further courses, totalling 15 credits, that expand on core contract law topics. Coursework covers the elements of negligence and liability, the drafting of legal documents used by law firms, corporate clients and government bodies, legal issues involving First Nations and Indigenous peoples in British Columbia and Canada, and the fundamentals of real property law, including the Land Title Act and the Property Law Act. Each course includes case studies and structured review of the material. The programme is delivered through the School of Legal Studies within the Business & Professional Studies faculty. Admission is limited to current BC Hydro employees who are nominated by their employer for the programme; all training costs, including application fees, tuition and course materials, are funded by BC Hydro rather than paid by students.

Admission Requirements: Admission is limited to employees of BC Hydro. Applicants must be currently employed at a BC Hydro business organization and must be nominated by BC Hydro as eligible to take the programme. All funding for the programme, including application fees, tuition and books, is provided by BC Hydro.
