Global Law and Social Justice is a specialization within Carleton University's Bachelor of Global and International Studies (BGInS) Honours degree. It examines law as a mechanism for governing global identities and relations, covering topics such as immigration, trade, human rights, and armed conflict, alongside the institutional structures, objectives, and history of global law. Students complete a common BGInS core alongside specialization-specific coursework, a second-language requirement (choices include Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, or American Sign Language), and an international experience requirement fulfilled through study abroad, an international internship, a course taken abroad, or an international group project. A Co-op work-integrated learning option is available. The Honours degree totals 20.0 credits and is normally completed over four years of full-time study.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants require the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, including a minimum of six Grade 12 4U or M courses, one of which must be a 4U course in English (or Français). The minimum overall admission average is set each year on a program-by-program basis; meeting the minimum requirements establishes eligibility for consideration but does not guarantee admission, as places are limited and demand can exceed availability.
