BA/BS in Actuarial Science

The Actuarial Science concentration is offered within the Statistics specialization of the Bachelor of Mathematics (BMath) Honours degree at Carleton University, a four-year program (20.0 credits). The concentration sequences courses in mathematics, statistics, business, and economics so that students meet the three undergraduate Validation by Educational Experience (VEE) requirements and are prepared to write the undergraduate-level examinations set by the Society of Actuaries. Core courses include Actuarial Mathematics I and II and Life Contingent Risk Modelling I and II. A co-op option is available. Admission requires Grade 12 Advanced Functions and Grade 12 Calculus and Vectors, each with a minimum grade of 75 percent. Graduates are prepared for entry-level actuarial roles and further progress toward professional actuarial designations through the Society of Actuaries examination process.
