Program details
Overview
This three-year technical diploma (DEC 243.DO) trains technologists to install, commission, troubleshoot and maintain industrial automation and control equipment, including programmable controllers, motor-control and power-electronics systems, industrial instrumentation, safety systems and industrial electrical networks. Coursework builds through six semesters, from foundational automation and robotics courses toward advanced systems design, control strategy and positioning-systems work, including both individual and collaborative industrial robots, alongside general education in French, philosophy, English and physical education. Students can gain paid workplace experience through an alternance travail-études option that alternates study terms with industry placements. The program suits analytical, hands-on students who are comfortable working with machinery and troubleshooting technical systems. Graduates work in production environments, industrial-equipment firms, engineering consulting, research laboratories, repair workshops and systems-integration companies, and the diploma also supports continued study at university for those who want to pursue engineering or related fields further.
