Overview
This three-year technical diploma (DEC) prepares students to create and execute residential and commercial interior design concepts. Coursework covers analysis of client needs, selection of materials, furniture, colour, and lighting within budget constraints, and production of sketches, perspectives, technical drawings, and photorealistic renderings. Students learn to read building structure so that design interventions respect it, and complete real projects with outside clients as part of their training. The programme gives access to computer labs, assembly workshops, a fablab, large-format and 3D printers, and a materials sample library. A paid work-study alternation option is available, and a DEC-BAC pathway connects graduates to a bachelor's programme at Universite de Montreal. Graduates find work in design firms, architecture offices, cabinetmaking, real estate development, renovation, furniture manufacturing, and decoration retail, or establish their own design practice. The programme runs over six sessions of full-time study.
