This Attestation d'etudes collegiales (AEC) programme prepares students to support individuals of all ages who have autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and their families. Students learn to understand the thinking patterns associated with ASD and apply appropriate interventions, building a functional assessment of a person with ASD and putting concrete intervention strategies and supports in place. The programme covers prevention, education, adaptation, rehabilitation and social integration across five courses totalling 330 hours, including a 120-hour integrated intervention project applying clinical tools. Graduates go on to work in rehabilitation centres, school boards, daycares and community organizations. The programme is delivered in hybrid format, part-time, with online sessions on Wednesday evenings and in-person sessions on Saturdays, requiring 3 to 6 hours of class time plus 1 to 3 hours of personal work per week. On completion, students receive an AEC credential (JNC.1H).
