Application Programming (AEC) is an Attestation of College Studies delivered in person, full-time, with day and evening classes, by Cégep de Sherbrooke's Centre de formation continue, over 18 months. The program trains specialists to program and maintain applications, test software, and take part in designing software, web, mobile, or other applications for candidates with prior experience. Teaching follows a practical, project-based approach that includes visits to local businesses, and from the fourth phase onward, students can enter a salary-study formula that lets them work in the field while continuing their studies. The program includes a work-placement component in an enterprise setting. Graduates are prepared for application-programming and software-maintenance roles across web, mobile, and other software platforms. The AEC is a workforce-oriented continuing-education credential rather than a diploma of college studies (DEC), and admission is processed through the Centre de formation continue. Cohorts are offered in the Fall, Winter, and Spring terms.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants must hold a Secondary School Diploma (DES) or training judged sufficient by the Cégep, and must satisfy one mathematics prerequisite — TS 4th-year Secondary, SN 4th-year Secondary, CST 5th-year Secondary, or Mathematics 436. Applicants who did not obtain their secondary or postsecondary diplomas in French or from a Francophone institution must pass a French-language proficiency test. Applicants must also complete a computing-knowledge test, though the college states that passing it is not mandatory for admission. A non-refundable $30 CAD admission and file-analysis fee applies; tuition depends on the applicant's status and was not published as a fixed figure at the time of review.
