Cert in Upholstery

This Diploma of Vocational Studies (DEP) in Upholstery (Rembourrage), program code 5031, is offered by the École nationale du meuble et de l'ébénisterie (ENM), the furniture and woodworking school of Cégep de Victoriaville. The program runs 900 hours over nine months and covers every stage of an upholstery project, from building the seating frame to the final covering. Students learn to select covering materials based on their properties, develop cutting patterns from the shapes being covered, and choose and install suspension systems such as springs and webbing. Training includes the use of industrial sewing machines and other specialized upholstery equipment. Graduates are prepared for work as upholsterers in furniture manufacturing plants, custom upholstery workshops, and automotive or marine trim shops.
