This diploma of college studies (DEC) in criminology intervention trains students to work directly with people of all ages who present behavioural difficulties, risk factors, or situations of neglect or abuse, and to support victims and witnesses of criminal acts. Coursework covers observing and evaluating client needs, designing and facilitating prevention and intervention activities, and crisis intervention, alongside collaboration with community partners to prevent maladaptive behaviour and support social reintegration. Training includes laboratory simulations with professional actors and a mentorship program for first-year students. The program includes four mandatory practicums totalling more than 600 hours, culminating in a full-time internship of 525 hours in the final session, placed across more than 100 partner sites. The program runs over six sessions of full-time study, delivered on campus, with admission in the fall term. Graduates are prepared for roles in rehabilitation centres, correctional facilities, community organizations, and child-protection agencies, working with youth and adults facing behavioural or mental-health challenges.
