Overview
This diploma of college studies (DEC) in documentation techniques trains documentation technicians to locate, manage, and disseminate information across libraries, archives, and other information-management settings. Coursework covers searching specialized databases and analyzing resources, managing documents and administrative information, providing reference services and information monitoring, cultural mediation and public programming, and designing and evaluating information tools. The program runs over seven sessions of full-time study; of its thirty courses, four are offered fully online and six in hybrid format, with the remainder delivered on campus, allowing students to balance study with work or personal commitments. Admission is primarily in the fall term, with a limited-space winter intake also available. Graduates are prepared for roles as documentation technicians in public and specialized libraries, document-management services, and archives, applying skills in information retrieval, organization, and access across a range of professional settings.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants must hold a Diplôme d'études secondaires (DES), or training judged equivalent by the college. The programme has no specific secondary-level course prerequisites; placement in the required English courses is based on secondary-school results or a placement test.
