3D Production and Digital Imaging (Production 3D et synthèse d'images, 574.C0) is a three-year technical diploma (DEC) offered at Cégep Limoilou's Charlesbourg campus. The programme trains students to create three-dimensional content for video games, film and television visual effects, and animated productions, organized around three profiles: 3D Artist (character and environment modelling), Animation (character animation and motion systems), and Visual Effects (compositing, and fluid and particle simulation). Coursework combines general education subjects such as literature, philosophy, English and physical education with specialized technical training in modelling, texturing, animation, effects and post-production, using industry software including Unreal Engine, Houdini, Maya, Blender, 3ds Max and Nuke. Learning is project-based and modelled on professional production pipelines, and students begin building a portfolio from their first year. The programme includes a mandatory study trip to France. Graduates may pursue university transfer agreements with UQAC's École NAD and UQAT for further study in 3D animation and game-related fields. A graphics tablet is required for coursework; a personal computer is recommended but not mandatory since software is available in campus labs.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: The programme has no specific subject prerequisites beyond a Secondary School Diploma (Diplôme d'études secondaires) or equivalent. Admission is non-contingented ('Non contingenté'), meaning all applicants who meet the general DEC entrance requirements are admitted.
