Overview

This 3-year DEC covers artistic drawing, model sculpting, image-processing and animation software, storyboarding and scenography, and the design, modelling, and animation of graphic elements. Students choose between two profiles: 3D generalist artist or visual-effects (VFX) artist. The programme concludes with a five-week work placement at a company working in visual effects or animation, and is supported by dedicated facilities built through a $13-million infrastructure investment. Graduates are prepared for careers in the media, film, and television industries. The programme has been offered at Cégep de Jonquière since Fall 2024.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Applicants must hold a Quebec Secondary School Diploma (DES), or a Diploma of Vocational Studies (DEP) together with the required Secondary 5 language and Secondary 4 mathematics courses, or prior education recognized by the Cégep as equivalent or sufficient. Some programmes carry additional particular admission conditions or selection criteria beyond these general requirements. Applications are submitted through the Service régional d'admission du Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, with fall-term admission rounds (deadlines March 1, May 1, and June 1) and a winter-term round (deadline November 1).
