This technical diploma (DEC) in mechanical engineering technology at Cégep Limoilou trains students to design, analyze, and manufacture tools, parts, and mechanical systems. The programme runs three years (six sessions) at the Limoilou campus: the first two years are shared, after which students choose one of two specializations, Dessin-conception (design and drafting) or Fabrication mécanique (mechanical fabrication), each using dedicated laboratories. Students work with CNC machines aligned with industry standards, complete two paid work-study internships (alternance travail-études), and solve real problems for outside businesses during the third year, producing technical drawings and prototypes or carrying out installation, production, and quality-control tasks. Admission requires Secondary 4 Mathematics (TS or SN) and Secondary 5 Physics. University pathways include a direct transfer (passerelle) to Université Laval's mechanical engineering programme and articulation agreements with ÉTS, Polytechnique Montréal, Université de Sherbrooke, and Concordia.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants must hold a Diplôme d'études secondaires (DES), or equivalent training, or training and experience judged sufficient by the college, and must have passed Mathematics TS or SN (Secondary 4) or CST (Secondary 5), and Physics (Secondary 5). The programme may be capped at the second admission round, with selection based on academic record.
