As a student in the Early Childhood Education program, you'll learn to provide high standards of care to children and their families. This highly regarded offering will teach you to take responsibility for observing the needs of individual and groups of children, and create well-planned, stimulating and responsive programs. You'll come to understand the needs of infants, toddlers, pre-school and school-aged children. Rich classroom experiences will offer you a range of opportunities to understand the content as professors employ a variety of strategies so you'll be able to practice and apply what you learn. Supporting this program are Centennial College’s two state-of-the-art early childhood education centres. Used as lab schools, these centres, located in East York and at Progress Campus, will allow you observe and/or practice in a high-quality childcare setting. If you're energetic, fun loving, dedicated to your learning, and enjoy working with children and adults, this is the program for you! Notes: This program is taught using a combination of modalities. Courses may be delivered face-to-face, online or in a blended/hybrid combination of both online and traditional classroom teaching. This Early Childhood Education program is also offered at Progress Campus with fall and winter intakes. Winter intake students complete four consecutive semesters without a summer break. Also facilitated at Progress is a part-time version of the offering.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Entry requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, or mature-student status at 19 or older, plus Grade 12 English at the C or U level (or equivalent), with the Centennial English Admission Test accepted as an alternative. Wider language proficiency follows Centennial's institution-wide diploma-programme standard: IELTS Academic 6.0 overall with no band below 5.5, TOEFL iBT 67 (minimum 16 Reading, 23 Writing), PTE Academic 51 or higher, CAEL 60, or Duolingo 105-114. Before field placement students need a clear vulnerable-sector police check, valid First Aid and CPR certification by the start of semester two, and a medical report including a TB test. A minimum C grade is required in all core courses and in COMM-160/161. The Ashtonbee Campus intake runs in May for both domestic and international applicants.

Application Deadline:Centennial publishes no application deadline for this program; what follows is the Ontario college cycle that governs it. Domestic applicants apply through ontariocolleges.ca: for a program starting in Fall 2027 the equal-consideration date is 1 February 2027, and applications arriving after it are still assessed, but first-come first-served while places remain. Across the Ontario college system the application opened on 26 September 2026, offers may be issued from 1 November 2026, and an offer must be accepted by 1 May 2027. One $150 fee covers up to five program choices. International applicants apply directly to Centennial through its own international application process and are assessed on a rolling basis across the Fall, Winter and Summer intakes; the college publishes no fixed international closing date. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
