Program details

Overview

The diploma trains students to become licensed paralegals in Ontario under the requirements of the Law Society Act, combining theoretical study with practical experience spanning the fields of law where licensed paralegals are permitted to work. Emphasis is placed on written and oral advocacy skills, professional ethics, and practice management. During the fourth semester, a placement in a setting related to law extends classroom instruction, with most courses delivered in person and some offered through asynchronous, synchronous or hybrid formats.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Admission requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, or mature-applicant status at 19 or older, plus a Grade 12 English College or University preparation course, or a pass on Centennial's English Admission Test. The programme page defers standardized-test scores to the college's general language-proficiency page, whose Standard Programs scale applies: IELTS Academic 6.0 with no band under 5.5, TOEFL iBT 67 with Reading at least 16 and Writing at least 23, PTE Academic 51 or higher, or Duolingo 105 or higher. No portfolio, interview, or minimum admission GPA is published; progression into the fourth-semester field placement instead requires a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 across the first three semesters and a C grade in College Communications 2.
