Overview
The Business School will be offering a variety of delivery modes for new students in all programs. These can include, asynchronous learning, synchronous learning, hybrid, and on-campus deliveries, including evenings and weekends. Access to justice requires well-trained and licensed paralegals to fill the growing demand for affordable services in the legal profession. Centennial College’s Paralegal program will prepare you to excel in the field through strong theoretical and practical courses. The Law Society of Ontario accredits Centennial’s one-year (three-semester) undertaking. This graduate certificate program will make you eligible, upon successful completion of all requirements, to write the Law Society’s Paralegal licensing examination — enabling you to practice as a licensed paralegal in Ontario. Licensed paralegals may represent clients in areas such as summary conviction criminal offences, traffic violations, provincial and municipal offences, tribunals and the Ontario Small Claims Courts. Throughout your studies in the Paralegal program, you'll gain solid knowledge of Canadian law, concentrating on subject areas within the permitted scope of paralegal practice. In addition to dedicated academic lectures, practice management and mock trials, there will be a two-day-per-week work placement in the third semester, providing hands-on training in established law and paralegal firms. Centennial’s experiential learning will exceed the requirements of the Law Society and assist in preparing you to enter the field, not only with practice experience but also with the chance to network within the industry. As a Centennial Paralegal graduate, you'll be well prepared to write your licensing examination and become an integral part of the legal system.

Admission Requirements: An Ontario College Graduate Certificate accredited by the Law Society of Ontario, 1 year over 3 semesters at Progress Campus. Entry requires a degree or a two-year college diploma in any discipline. Centennial will also review applicants who have completed at least half of a university degree and who have at least two years of work experience relevant to the program, on the basis of transcripts and a resume. English language proficiency applies. Graduates who complete the program and meet the Law Society's own eligibility criteria, including its good character requirement, may sit the P1 Paralegal Licensing Examination. International applicants apply directly to Centennial. September and January starts. Centennial lists this program as not aligned with the Post-Graduation Work Permit.

DOMESTIC applicants apply through ontariocolleges.ca: for a program starting in Fall 2027 the equal-consideration date is 1 February 2027, and applications arriving after it are still assessed, but first-come first-served while places remain. Across the Ontario college system the application opened on 26 September 2026, offers may be issued from 1 November 2026, and an offer must be accepted by 1 May 2027. One $150 fee covers up to five program choices. INTERNATIONAL applicants apply instead through Centennial's ApplyCentennial portal, for which the College publishes no fixed cut-off; it advises applying four to six months before the intended start so there is time for processing and a study permit, and charges a non-refundable $125 CAD application fee.
