General Studies in Social Science is a two-year pre-university Diploma of Collegial Studies (DEC) offered at Champlain College Saint-Lambert, available with or without a mathematics profile. The program gives students broad flexibility in selecting social-science courses, building a background across the discipline's seven core areas: anthropology, economics, geography, history, political science, psychology, and sociology. Students choose up to eight concentration courses and may complete several university-program prerequisites before transferring to a Quebec university. Teaching combines lectures with multimedia, computer simulations, current-events analysis, and debate. Graduates commonly pursue university study in fields such as anthropology, communications, education, law, political science, psychology, and social work. Students who complete the mathematics profile can additionally meet the entrance prerequisites of university programs that require Secondary V mathematics, broadening the range of programs open to them after graduation.
