Respiratory Therapy is a diploma program offered by the Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick (CCNB) that prepares students to practise as respiratory therapists in specialized cardiorespiratory care. Students learn to assess, plan, and administer treatments that support or restore patients' respiratory function, developing the technical, clinical, and interpersonal skills needed to work with varied patient populations in hospital, community, and emergency settings. The program emphasizes professional responsibility, interdisciplinary collaboration, and adherence to the standards, laws, and regulations governing respiratory-therapy practice. Coursework covers cardiorespiratory anatomy and physiology, cardiovascular pathophysiology, mechanical ventilation, anesthesia, neonatal and pediatric respiratory care, medical gases, and clinical evaluation, along with professional communication and CPR/emergency-care training. The 97-week program, which includes critical-care and anesthesia clinical placements, is offered at the Dieppe campus and leads to a diploma in Respiratory Therapy, preparing graduates for roles as respiratory therapists, cardiovascular perfusionists, and cardiopulmonary technologists.
