Diploma in Interprétation théâtrale

Interprétation théâtrale is a technical DEC of at least three years offered through the École de théâtre professionnel at Collège Lionel-Groulx, with fall admission. The program trains actors through a range of acting courses -- drama, comedy, tragedy, physical expression, dance movement, diction, vocal technique, and singing -- applied across varied performance contexts such as stage, staged readings, on-camera acting, voice dubbing, and auditions. Teaching draws on a faculty active in Quebec's theatre and cultural scene and emphasizes a diversity of approaches. Students also study the theoretical and historical currents of theatre and take part in a newer stream focused on artistic career-building and entrepreneurship, including writing and staging workshops and a creation-and-production lab. By the end of the three years, graduates are expected to have developed professional versatility across classical and contemporary repertoire, improvisation, and different media and audiences. Admission requires meeting the college's general conditions and passing an audition. The program suits students drawn to playing characters, comfortable with creative risk-taking and collaborative ensemble work, and seeking training as a professional performer for stage, screen, or voice work.
