Diploma in Musique - profil Classique

Music – Classical Profile is a two-year pre-university Diploma of Collegial Studies (DEC) at Collège Lionel-Groulx, program code 501.A1, offered starting in the Fall term only. The profile develops students as instrumentalists or vocalists within the classical repertoire and harmonic language, preparing them to perform as soloists or to audition for university-level music programs. Coursework builds technique on the student's principal instrument together with ear training and music theory, and includes participation in small and large ensembles, including choir and orchestra. Specialized music training is combined with the general education courses required of all pre-university DEC students. Admission requires meeting the college's general CEGEP admission conditions and passing a mandatory audition, with the audition and the applicant's academic record together forming the selection criteria. Applicants are expected to already have a grounding in basic music theory and an interest in ensemble playing.
