Offered by Collège Lionel Groulx in Sainte-Thérèse, Canada, Diploma in Sciences humaines et Musique is a diploma in Music programme. The programme runs for 3 years. Teaching is in French. Tuition is CAD 3,740 per year for local students.
Sciences humaines et Musique is a double-DEC pathway at Collège Lionel-Groulx that lets students earn two separate Diplômes d'études collégiales -- one in Sciences humaines and one in Musique -- within the standard three-year, six-session timetable rather than completing the programs one after another. The college offers this pairing in two Sciences humaines variants: 'avec mathématiques,' which adds calculus and linear algebra to the usual social-science coursework in history, psychology, anthropology, and economics, and the 'profil Individu, diversité et relations humaines,' which stays qualitative and centers on human behaviour, cultural diversity, and interpersonal relations. Either humanities variant can be combined with any of the college's three Musique profiles -- Classique, Jazz, or Numérique -- so students choose both a social-science orientation and an instrumental or production specialization. Coursework from the two programs is integrated into a single timetable each session rather than studied as separate blocks. Admission follows the usual academic-record review for Sciences humaines together with a mandatory music audition assessing theory, ear training, and instrumental or production skill. The pathway suits students with genuinely varied academic interests -- strong organizational ability and self-direction are needed to manage the double course load -- who want to keep serious music training alive alongside a university-track humanities diploma rather than choosing one over the other.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Beyond the college's general admission conditions (a DES, or DEP-plus-courses equivalency, or judged-sufficient training/experience, plus adequate French with the Bright test at 3.7 minimum for anyone without a francophone-sector DES), this Double DEC requires Mathematics TS or SN Secondary 5 (code 526 or 536) and a passed music audition. Selection is decided jointly by audition and academic record: "l'audition et le dossier scolaire sont les criteres de selection pour l'admission au programme." Candidates submit an audition request with a $38 non-refundable fee, a digital photo and a musical CV in PDF, ahead of the SRAM application. For the 2026 intake the audition request is due 15 February, the audition itself is held 21 February, and the SRAM application is due 1 March. The program runs three years (six sessions), and admits in the fall.
Application Details
Start Date:September
Application Deadline:Domestic applicants apply through the Service régional d'admission du Montréal métropolitain (SRAM) at admission.sram.qc.ca: the college's own admission page states an equal-consideration date of 1 March for Fall entry and 1 November for Winter entry, which for the 2027 cycle fall on 1 March 2027 (Fall) and 1 November 2026 (Winter), with Winter 2027 applications opening 15 September 2026. Collège Lionel-Groulx does not publish a dedicated international-admissions page of its own; international applicants would follow SRAM's system-wide window, published as 15 March 2026 to 14 March 2027 for Fall 2027 entry, though the college has not confirmed this itself. Admission proceeds round by round on a rolling basis after each equal-consideration date until seats are filled. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
