Diploma in Musique - profil Jazz

Music – Jazz Profile is a two-year pre-university Diploma of Collegial Studies (DEC) at Collège Lionel-Groulx, program code 501.A2, offered starting in the Fall term only. The profile emphasizes improvisation and spontaneous musical expression, developing mastery of jazz language and vocabulary through individual instrumental instruction and ensemble participation. Students have access to a music lab, practice rooms, and a recording studio, and may combine the profile with a second DEC through the college's double-DEC options. Specialized music training is combined with the general education courses required of all pre-university DEC students. The program has no enrollment cap. Admission requires meeting the college's general CEGEP admission conditions and passing a mandatory audition, with the audition and the applicant's academic record together forming the selection criteria. Applicants are expected to already demonstrate solid command of an instrument, including voice, and an interest in ensemble performance.
