Program details

Overview

This Double DEC combines the pre-university Arts visuels program with the pre-university Sciences humaines program at Collège Montmorency, which offers Sciences humaines in several profiles — Individu et interactions sociales, Perspectives internationales, Justice, culture et société, Avec mathématiques, and Gestion des organisations (in two- and three-mathematics versions) — any of which can be combined with the visual-arts curriculum. The Arts visuels side combines studio practice in drawing, painting, sculpture and digital media with art history and theory, preparing students for university or specialized visual-arts and design programs, while the Sciences humaines side covers the social-science subjects appropriate to the chosen profile, the usual preparation for university programs in the humanities, social sciences, law or business. The combined program takes three years, a year longer than a single pre-university DEC, and admission depends on meeting the requirements of both individual programs. Completion leads to two separate Diplômes d'études collégiales. It suits students who want a serious visual-arts practice alongside social-science training in whichever profile matches their university plans.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Prerequisite for this Arts visuels / Sciences humaines double DEC (Collège Montmorency's own program page): a Diplôme d'études secondaires (DES); the admission conditions of each of the two combined programs apply. Admission is Fall only, and the program is usually open through SRAM's 2nd round. Arts visuels can be paired with any of five Sciences humaines profiles — Individu et interactions sociales, Perspectives internationales, Justice, culture et société, Avec mathématiques, or Gestion des organisations — each combined over three years into two diplomas. No minimum grade or GPA is stated. Applicants without Canadian status apply to this program through SRAM as international candidates; Collège Montmorency's own admission pages set a minimum B2 level in both written and spoken French for international applicants, met through Bright (minimum 3.7 in every section) or DELF/DALF (an overall score of at least 67 with a minimum of 16.75 in each of the four components).
