Overview
The Dental Hygiene Diploma prepares graduates to practice as licensed, regulated, health care professional team members through in-class and clinical learning. Dental hygienists are preventative oral health care providers, providing specialized services in oral health education, clinical therapy and health promotion. Dental Hygienists practice in a wide variety of settings, including private clinics and community health settings.
The Dental Hygiene program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada. When you graduate, you’re eligible to write Canadian and American national certification exams. Our graduates consistently attain a very high pass rate on their board exams.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Minimum 3.0 GPA ("B" average, no grade below "C") across: 6 credits of first-year Biology (Anatomy and Physiology), 6 credits of first-year Chemistry with labs, 6 credits of first- or second-year English, 6 credits of first- or second-year Psychology, 3 credits of first- or second-year Statistics, and 3 credits of a first- or second-year elective. English-proficiency documentation is required for non-native English speakers. Conditional acceptance is available to applicants who have completed at least half the required coursework at the 3.0 GPA threshold and are enrolled in the remainder.

Application Deadline:College of New Caledonia runs first-qualified, first-accepted admissions with no single deadline for most programmes. Domestic and international applicants use the same process, though international students also go through CNC's international application page: applications for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 entry are open now, and applications for Fall 2027 and Spring 2028 entry open on 1 October 2026. Seats are assessed on a rolling basis and close once a programme fills or the term begins; CNC advises applying as soon as applications open, and international applicants typically get an offer letter within four to six weeks. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Northern Collaborative Baccalaureate Nursing Program) and the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Diploma are exceptions, each carrying a fixed 1 March application-and-documentation deadline. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
